New Year’s first post is about…

Thinkpotting!

Yes, dats d blog u guys don’t visit too often. J d problem is, I’ve decided to keep delhidreams safe from my usual mundane babblings, n to keep thm separate in there. dat is, on d thinkpot. So if u r interested in my poetry and other literary forays, u shud b sticking to delhidreams. If u want to know, what m really up to, u shud b bookmarking thinkpot. There r a couple of othr blogs also on my profile, but they r in limbo right now, so don’t worry abt them. Will keep u updated on if and wen I revive them.

Okay, enuf of ths shameless self-promotion. but being in advtg it’s a habit that I earn my bread wid, I need to tell u that I had a very good beginning to the year 2009. It had everything possible in a bollywood movie. Well, almost everything. Hero, heroine, maa, love, romance, glamour, contemplation, etc. etc. etc. well almost, ‘cos it had no villains or evil plots. n to know all of dat, u’ll hav to come over to thinkpot 😉

I know, am mean-fully shame-less. In advtg, we call it public relations.

C u there. Luv ya!

New Year’s first post is about…well, the new year…

…And about why didn’t I sms my wishes this time?

While reminiscing about life at the urinal upstairs (downstairs one being renovated, but that’s not needed here) I realized how tech. driven I am becoming. In fact, how tech. driven we all are getting. It was a simple thought that crossed my mind, how many sms I sent wishing people a very ‘happy new year’. I didn’t.

sounding apologetic, my inner logical brain replied, “you were not supposed to! U already mailed more than 70 people in your gmail address book, u mailed people in ur facebook mailing list and u posted ur new year wish on two of ur blogs separately! How more u cud have done? If people can’t get ur msg on e-mail or the net, what use is their being in touch?”

the best thing about this internal conversation was that I agreed to this logic. I reached almost everyone I know through mail or blog posts. This involves both my real and virtual well wishers. (Apart from my parents, who do not use the net.) There was no need to again separately message each one of them. But this was a break from tradition, this too I agreed to. It has become a norm for people to now message each other in groups on each and every festival or celebration or piece of bad news. sms has become the de-facto medium of communication for many-many people of my generation. But even that is changing. sms is not cool anymore. Maybe mms will be, when everyone can afford multimedia enabled phones. But that’ll take some time in India.

I’m looking at a world wherein I’ll be more and more online, where sms will be completely replaced by instant messaging and twitter feeds and facebook updates. Am I also looking at a world which is loosing one more ‘old’ way of staying in touch while discovering new ones simultaneously? Is ‘sms‘ going to be the ‘hand written letter’ of past century in the coming years?

new year wishes

to we creatures of memory
to you
to me
to that little part that’s me in you
and those numerous moments that you are within me
to all that was, and to all that could be
to all that will and to all that should be;

‘may the lessons learned be remembered well’

wishing a contented new year to each one of us

Fan of cold coffee?

“Aparna Mudi became a fan of Cold Coffee” said the facebook page. Am I one?

When I think about that, yes, I am. But it’s very interesting to me. I used to actually hate cold coffee and iced tea. It is only quite recently that I’ve started liking them. Majorly, because of utterly hot summers this time and the McDonalds at Kashmere Gate metro station.

Right now, am thinking of a story behind this all. If I find it out, I’ll update this post again.

Lol

Too absurd.

Am I back to blogworld? I don’t know, yet. But will try to be more attentive for sure.

C ya!

The end of November and the beginning of December.

  1. So much happening in life these days and yet I find reasons to be depressed.
  2. Work, work, work.
  3. SMS is the social life line. E-mail follows close second. Chatting is reserved for Payal, and that too not daily. Phone is only for Dee.
  4. Nursing a punch on my left eye. It changes color daily. So I can tell you like a weatherman, today the clouds over my eye were less blue and more purple. And that there is forming an area of low pressure region above the temple and around the eye brow. Discovered a contraption called eye pad, which made me look like a retired pirate of the Arabian.
  5. Attended an internal training session on Hofstede’s cultural theory. Supposedly a very interesting and useful tool to map insights. Haven’t got time to work on it yet.
  6. Planning to use more of MS-Word’s blog document feature so that this blog will look more like my non-existent twitter update page. Don’t know when will it happen actually.
  7. Having lots of dreams these days. It is surprising ‘cos I generally have a dreamless sleep. Daydreaming helps. But not working these days. Yes, to think of it, I haven’t daydreamed much for some time. Relates directly to point number 1 and 2. The day before yesterday, my ex-boss visited and told me to work more and more and not look for gains as yet. Yesterday night, I got a piece of mind of my someday-soon-to-be father-in-law. Really, getting in trouble with authorities these days. And yes, mother-in-law refused to acknowledge my presence.
  8. And as always, there were a lot may things to be communicated that now have vanished conveniently into thin air.

C ya soon.

the being of little acknowledgement

brimming the silence that words surround
inexplicable the feeling that gathers around

simple the wisdom that minds confound
leaden the guilt that fetters unbound

dear the mirage that eyes resound
lost the way that i go round

in the beginning
there was only earth
and there were humans
each one was equal
each one sat with the other
then, gradually
chairs were made
and each person
got separated from the other
today,
there are only chairs
and those left on the earth
are not considered human enough

recently dee and me gave a party at my place. (celebrating the 22nd october.) i cleaned the whole space, removed the bed and the chairs and made the sitting arrangement on the floor itself. it was possible to have more people share the same space sitting on the floor instead of chairs. this poem comes from there 🙂
…to think of, the earth was always enough for all of us. we just have not realised that, yet.

not my usual way of translation. the soul is same, the clothes and the appearance different. as per Dee, it’s an altogether new poem. and i admit that the English one fed the original Hindi one a thought or two.

often i yearn
to understand, to learn
all the languages
of this wide wide world
so when next i meet
the first stranger on the street
i should be able to ask
and greet
how are you
i hope no sadness plagues you
tell me something more about yourself
or tell me tales of a distant hue
but whenever i do think about this
i wonder, i ramble, i ponder anew
to know all of this and more of that
why would i need a language new

Diwali Mubarak

lots of sweets, gifts, greetings, crackers and celebrations…Diwali is much more than that. at its most fundamental, it’s about hope.
the hope that come what may, life will turn out to be better than it has been. that darkness will cease to exist and in the end at least, there will be light.

have a fulfilled Diwali.
