monsoon in delhi

its raining really hard out here. narrowly missed being caught. rashmi didn’t. her pretty blue umbrella couldn’t help her much. while sudhanshu, our new client serivicing guy, was caught unawares. he’s still standing beneath the fan.

aajkal likhne ka mann nahi karta. m not feeling like writing these days. not blog surfing too. feeling very tired these days. no pheebes, lalitha, dumbfunk, aklant, richard, afj, apsy these days. and m missing all the dear blog friends.

from left to right, this is me, rashmi, neeru & somu standing at the office balcony. our boss, pinaki da clicked this foto.

IF – Opposites

this week’s topic on Illustration Friday is opposites…

sorry, didn’t have much time, been a busy week. & ‘m really glad to be back blogging.

its a strange word, ‘opposite’. how negative a picture of it we’ve in our minds. i welcome opposites.

even within me, there r a lot of opposing-contrasting-conflicting feelings. i believe i’m unique, and i’m my only opposite. wat do u say?

LONG LIVE GOI

long live the govt. of India and its foolish ministrels.

what good use is banning the whole of blogosphere when terrorists are roaming freely in the country is a question only they can answer. er, they dont actually do answer the questions, they skirt very nicely around them.

a better bunch of morons never served India.

anyways, there a lot of things to crib about our dummy prime minister and the all powerful queen, this is not the time, the place. perhaps that all might come too in this blog in future.

anyways, thanks to pheebes for giving me a proverbial ‘window of opportunity’ to access my blogs. thanks to ‘pkblogs.com’ too.

till next time, adieus, amigos.

IF- SACRIFICE

Mother, as I write in Hindi, my mother tongue. This week’s topic at illustration friday, is sacrifice.

I asked around in the office too. Rashmi suggested a portrait of ‘Bhagat Singh’, one of our most revered freedom fighters. Somu said, “I would’ve drawn something abstract.” While Bandhu declared giving away his bottle of Saturday-liquor will be the ultimate sacrifice!!!

I ‘wrote’ it with a black colored pencil. Scanned it in photoshop at 300dpi, made a jpeg & uploaded it here. With a little help from Somu, I converted the RGB pixels to single color black leaving the red dot above.

The red dot above represents the auspicious mark of marriage Hindu women grace their forehead with. It is called a ‘Bindi’ in Hindi.

Hope it turns out good.

Psst… somehow i can’t view my blog. I can access it, post the posts, edit them, but can’t see the actual blog. So, starry nights, phebes, thanks for the comments here instead.

recuperating on a saturday

from the pages of my memory, a year ago
July 16, 2005

So, it was another Saturday. What was so different about it? Nothing much. Took an off from work, nah office. ’cause work somehow is always on. Tried to relax.

When I say, tried to relax; pls. visualise a household comprising of one hyper-active four year old & one hyper hyper-active two year old. My niece’, sia & kaku. It’s not everyday they lay their hands on my sense of patience & calm. And I admit. I’m defeated. Comprehensively beaten.

Naturally, at the end of the day I thought it would’ve been better at the office.

So, it was another Saturday, entirely opposite of what I thought it would go like. My Saturday’s are like that. Always having some surprise in store for me. It’s Shani Devta’s effect. Never seemed to like me much.

Have still no plans for tomorrow. Was suppossed to call Pino & Sunshine to fix up a ‘get together’ on Sunday. Didn’t. Will be calling them, asking to shift the ‘gt’ to the next Sunday. Pino is leaving for Infy this August, so its important to leave him some good memories with.

Rest, most of the things are going on nicely. Now, will gargle with warm tea-leaf water, then take a tablet for fever & the last apply a ‘new improved, less greasy, decongestent vaporizing ointment’. Ah! my kind of lingo. Advertising is everywhere. More so, even when one’s ill. It just doesn’t feel like work anymore. I write even in my dreams now. Perhaps, the only good work i do.

Have to come up with some decent taglines for a run-of-the-mill cliched product. Hope Vicks Vaporub clears my nose & mind will follow suit.

My diary entry of a year ago. So many things change yet the basic’s always remain same. I’m still the same foolish, strategically stupid guy I was a year ago.
Sunshine is no more in my life. Guess she got tired of me. Pino is still there. Happy at Infosys. Infact, he was in Delhi for the past three days. I couldn’t meet him due to over-stress & over-work. Maybe next time.
This weekend was so much like the last year’s. Some people slipping slowly out of my life, some adjusting painfully, some staying even more deeply. Rains, heartbreaks, joys, memories… some things never change. people do.

monsoon magic

morning grey rain clouds delhi green fresh grass drops journey soak india gate sms gagan wishes sachin hope friends dee shayari memories conversations words traffic open roads zebra crossings breakfast tea pakoras spice sauce pa mummy terrace window balcony shout loud dance children smile home music…

…the joy of monsoon

sunday brought the monsoon home.

covered almost half of delhi with sachin on his two-wheeler & the rain traveled along.

i’d stayed back at his place on saturday as we (sachin, me, gudiya ‘n amul) were planning to have a great & somewhat early-movie weekend together. but he got an urgent call from the office & had to rush there. i hitched a ride as that place is quite near to my home.
best friend, glorious weather, a promise of rain & freedom from city buses, i couldn’t have got more reasons…

around half of our journey, the ‘india gate’ saw us completely soaked. and enjoying every milimeter of it.

i’ve a love-hate relationship with this season. and am sure the city of delhi also feels the same. rains bring everything that’s hidden to the surface. lots of unwanted things too. especially if you are a bursting-at-seams-city or an at-his-wit’s-end-gentleman like me.

sunday, monday, tuesday- three days of continuous soaking left me a little warm from insides. sniffles, cough & medicines followed. tomorrow again is the sunday, and the weather is delirious again.

i’m living rains, here in the heart of delhi.

p.s. just wondering about hagrid. should’ve come out of the blues by now… must’ve
